Earlier this year, Eurolink Connect supported the ninth annual Bristol to Bordeaux Cycle Challenge by sponsoring a jersey pocket. The challenge is one of the UK’s top charity bicycle rides and the ninth ride took place in July.

The ride saw cyclists from all walks (or should we say cycles?) of life take part in a 300 or 500 mile cycle ride along some of the finest UK and French cycling routes before arriving in Bordeaux. What’s so fantastic about the Bristol to Bordeaux Cycle Challenge is that they are a proud supporter of special needs charity, PROPS (Providing Opportunities and Support). PROPS believe that all young people should have an opportunity for fulfilling and participative lives in their communities, on both a social and professional level, regardless of any disabilities they may have.

This year, four students from the PROPS centre completed the 300 mile route to Bordeaux. One of the students, who took part, was not actually able to ride a bike last year and spent his time leading up to the cycle challenge learning to fall off his bike with style – It is safe to say that all completed the route and we would like to congratulate them on this fantastic achievement!

We were really pleased to find out that our support enabled PROPS to organise a professional event with minimal cost which ensured that all of the sponsorship raised by the cyclists went directly to the charity to help with special needs youngster. This year the amount raised was a staggering £75,000!

Planning for The Bristol to Bordeaux Cycle Challenge’s 10th anniversary is already in full swing and 100 riders have signed up ready to go! If you are feeling inspired about cycling thanks to The Bloor Homes Cheltenham Festival  of Cycling, be sure to find out more about the event here.
